SO, I moved VDL from the external hard drive to my computer's hard drive, and things magically worked correctly. I might be really dumb coming to that conclusion, I'm by no means an expert on any of this, except I do have a lot of experience getting VDL to work correctly. I did some 'research' (googling) and came to the conclusion that things may run faster if you have your sample libraries on a different hard drive than finale. With my workload growing more and more each year, I figured it was time to buy a more powerful computer. This was usually remedied by stopping and restarting playback, but it was always a nuisance. I've always experienced a little lag/delay/slow loading times when arranging large, full marching band files. Like I said, I've used VDL 1, 2, 2.5, and now 2.5.5 on 3 (hopefully now 4) different computers. I had the VDL sounds installed on an external hard drive. This may be really stupid, but I figured out the problem. I really appreciate your help on this, Jim! I know this problem really isn't a VDL problem, and more of a Kontakt player problem, so thank you very much.
